CLASS TITLE: HES 21st Century Teacher
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist in the implementation of education programs by providing academic tutoring to students.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Provide appropriate learning materials and experience for participants.
- Assist students in small group or one-on-one sessions to enhance their education and provide support in achieving learning objectives set by the school.
- Assess the students’ progress throughout tutoring sessions and adjust instructional methods and content focus as necessary.
- Provide adult supports, activities, and sessions.
- Participate in tutor training and development sessions.
- Maintain accurate records and provide data to appropriate personnel.
- Treat all individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect.
- Adhere to SBDM and McCracken County Public School Board policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Maintain a professional and appropriate appearance.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic instructional methods and techniques.
- Basic learning theory applicable to the student group served.
- Students with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
- Basic subjects taught in District schools including arithmetic, reading, writing, grammar, and spelling.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
- Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct.
- Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
- Applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.
- Health and safety regulations.
ABILITY TO:
- Provide instruction working with children with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
ABILITY TO (CONTINUED):
- Maintain routine records.
- Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Plan and organize work.
