Description

SUBSTITUTE TEACHING APPLICANTS

 

Requirements:

 

  • A minimum of 64 semester hours of credit from a regionally accredited institution

 

  • A minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. If an applicant holds at least a Bachelor’s Degree, there is no minimum GPA requirement.

Certification:

  • Non-certified (no Kentucky teaching certificate):

After the Central Office processes your application, you will receive an e-mail from the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) notifying you of your pending application for emergency substitute certification.  Follow their instructions to complete this process. 

Please print and deliver a copy of your emergency certificate to our office, or you may e-mail it to ellie.egner@mccracken.kyschools.us.

 

  • Certified:

Must furnish copy of valid Kentucky teaching certificate

 

 

PLEASE NOTE:

 

Your application will not be considered until:

  • All required documents are completed and submitted to our office (an email checklist of additional items to complete will be sent to you).  If you have not completed these items within 6 months your application will be purged.

Certified Teacher Substitute Daily Classification Rate

Retired Teacher* $ 120.00

Substitute teachers who teach twenty (20) or more consecutive days at a school for the
same teacher shall be paid from the certified teacher salary scale. If a substitute
teaches in a vacant position and is hired as a teacher for that position, they shall be
paid for their consecutive time subbing in that same position from the certified teacher
salary scale, regardless of whether or not they taught as a substitute for twenty (20) or
more consecutive days in that posistion.
Substitute teachers must hold a valid certificate issued by the Kentucky Education
Professional Standards Board.

*Only teachers who retire from McCracken County Schools and return as substitute
teachers will be paid this rate regardless of their rank. If the rate exceeds the teacher's
Daily Wage Threshhold (DWT) from the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System, the
DWT will be paid. Retired teachers, regardless of the district from which they retired,
are limited to working 169 days per school year. Retired teachers from McCracken
County Schools will be honored with this rate of pay due to their familiarity with the
facilities, staff, local policies, local cultures, families, and students; loyalty to the district;
experience; and to encourage teachers to seek employment with the district and remain
with the district knowing this benefit is available to them upon retirement.
